Aqua Garden by Formosoft International Inc. offers a true-to-life fresh-water aquarium with bubbling water, windmills, soft swaying plants and 35 species of freshwater fish. If you like freshwater tanks, this software package has all of the fish, plants and tank trinkets to customize your own underwater world.
Though this is an excellent choice for a fresh-water aquarium screensaver, the fish don't behave as naturally as the fish in the top-ranked aquariums. We also noticed a few programming flaws-an angelfish, at times, would swim through the branch of a tree and a tetra swam though a tree trunk.
Ease of Use:
Aqua Garden has a user-friendly, well-designed control panel divided into different categories like tank, fish, light, music and more making it a breeze to change your settings at anytime.
Feature Set:
Aqua Garden has some features that set it apart from other virtual aquariums. In addition to the realistic landscaping objects, This aquarium screensaver will support multi-display. So, you can have up to three monitors, and when sat side-by-side, they will form one continues aquarium. The fish will even swim from one monitor to the next.
Another cool feature is the fish follower. Set up your aquarium's view so it follows one fish as it swims through the plants, ornaments and passes other fish.
Ease of Installation:
We didn't have any problems while installing Aqua Garden.
Help/Support:
Aqua Garden offers adequate help on their website including a manual and a phone number and email address so you can contact customer support. The problem we discovered is the software doesn't have a link to the website. So, you'll have to track down the website to get help.
Fish:
Aqua Garden aquarium screensaver comes with 35 different species of freshwater fish-we evaluated each one. These fish move just like the real thing but their behaviors aren't as convincing.
We also discovered a few program flaws where a fish would swim through some of the vegetation.
Scenery:
Great scenery—Aqua Garden provides a variety of plants and other landscape objects to decorate and add color to your virtual aquarium. The only downside is that if you look closely, some of the plant movement doesn't look credible.
Summary:
Aqua Garden is an interactive aquarium where you can design your landscape with a number of plants and objects and select freshwater fish to inhabit your tank. If you like fresh-water fish, this may be the aquarium screensaver for you.
