Create your own underwater worlds with Aquatic 3D by Primetime, Ltd. With Aquatica 3D you can create your very own underwater scenes with almost anything you can think of ranging from mermaids to sunken treasures with the scenery maker that comes with your full version of Aquatica 3D.
Ease of Use:
We experienced some difficulties while using Aquatica 3D. When we changed one of the textures of a fish, Aquatica 3D froze up and we had to shut the program down from the Windows task manager.
Feature Set:
The biggest drawback we felt Aquatica 3D had was its realistic look and effects. The backgrounds appear too much like a photograph as well as the scenery in each tank.
We did like the feature in the control panel for the scenery and fish for changing the properties where you can adjust the scale as well as change textures and effects.
Ease of Installation:
Aquatica 3D does require an additional step of choosing which type of installation based on your graphics card. Most novice users might not know which option to choose.
Help/Support:
When we pressed the help button nothing happened, we expected help files or a link to online help. From their website, they do offer some good help and support. You create a support form, request an email, or read from their knowledge base.
Fish:
Overall, the fish species of Aquatica 3D weren't as good as our higher-ranked virtual aquarium software products. However, one of the aspects we really liked about the fish species of Aquatica 3D was the fact they always have a variety of species you can download from their website.
Even thought its not a realistic behavior in a real fish species you can also add talking fish to your virtual aquarium with Aquatica 3D.
Scenery:
We were disappointed with the scenery of Aquatica 3D, its easy to see their just photographs and there is no realistic movements with their sceneries.
We did like how you can download from hundreds of sceneries users have created and uploaded on their website as well as the ability to create your own scenery with the scenery creator included with Aquatica 3D.
Summary:
We really liked the online community Aquatica 3D has. There you can share your creative backgrounds with other members as well as download new fish and objects for your aquarium screensavers.
Overall though, we feel Aquatica 3D needs improvements in their sceneries as well as fish before they can compete for the #1 aquarium screensaver position.
