Though Aquatica Azure 3D is a decent aquarium screensaver which has some unique features, the overall appearance of the aquarium isn't as realistic as our top rated products and does not include as many features, such as feeding the fish.
The control panel for this product is more complicated to use and navigate than others we've seen. Because of this it might take a little longer to learn how to use this product and would be difficult to understand for a novice user.
Aquatic Azure 3D includes some fun features such as changing the behavior of the fish, changing the look of the fish and adding texture to the fish. The program can be viewed in both full screen and screensaver mode and has a built in visual editor.
The installation of Aquatica Azure 3D was fairly simple, giving us no complications with the process until trying to use the personalized settings.
Aquatica Azure 3D offers some good help and support directly from their control panel. Under the help option of the control panel you can access a quick start guide, learn how to use the interface (control panel), download new features, and view a tutorial (this feature was not active yet).
If you use some of the common fish, like the scorpion fish or the yellow tang, then the appearance is fair, although still not entirely believable with a slightly cartoonish appearance. However, if you start to add species like the dolphins, then they begin to completely lose any realistic look.
A bonus to the cartoonish feel of this program is that it could make this aquarium screensaver ideal for children with fun things for them to do, such as changing how the fish look and changing the behavior of the fish. Another great feature that makes this program geared toward children is the fact that Aquatica Azure 3D also has talking fish.
The scenery does at times look believable, but seems as if a picture of the real thing were taken and placed in the screensaver, as it lacks some of the natural details like plant movement and waves or water movement that add credibility and liveliness to the aquarium.
This is especially apparent in the bomber wreckage and Atlantis aquarium where the image looks more like a computer game graphic.
You have the option to make custom scenery and to change some features of the pre-programmed scenery such as bubbles and water reflections.
Aquatica Azure 3D is an average aquarium screensaver software that could use some improvements in their scenery and in the quality of their fish. However, a feature that allows you the freedom of creation sets this product apart and many of the features and appearance flaws which make it not suitable for adults make it perfect for some children.
