LifeGlobe created a virtual aquarium especially for goldfish lovers. These goldfish are very realistic in appearance and behavior, but the scenery and background look so pixelated that the fish and scenery don't seem to match at all.
One problem with the program is that it is so specific when it comes to fish. LifeGlobe hasn't ventured into other species with this software package, so you won't be able to enjoy colorful tropical fish or other species of freshwater dwellers.
Goldfish Aquarium will run as a screensaver, and you can access the control panel and customize the aquarium to fit your needs. All of the buttons and settings are self-explanatory; even the computer novice will have no trouble with this one.
Goldfish Aquarium doesn't offer a whole lot in features. There are 16 different fish and 11 different tanks, giving you some good variety. But the program doesn't do much beyond that. Things like lighting and sound aren't as customizable as they should be either.
We didn't encounter any problems during the installation of Goldfish Aquarium.
There is a limited amount of help included with the Goldfish Aquarium software. But, there is a link to their website where you'll find a list of FAQs and a form you can fill out to reach customer support.
These goldfish are fun to watch, with flowing fins, moving mouths, sporadic swim patterns and natural body, fin and tail movements. They remind us of our very own goldfish.
While in Goldfish Aquarium you can choose to have "Lush Planting," "Medium Planting," "Sparse Planting," "Rocks Only," "Large Clear Tank," or "Pond." All of the options have the same scenery but differ in the number of plants.
The "Pond" setting provides an overhead view. The fish look great and this is a nice option but the pond doesn't have any vegetation, rocks or even water effects. The addition of some of these details would give a more realistic appearance to the pond.
Overall, the scenery does not match the fish because it is so pixelated. It looks like it was taken from a video game from ten years ago.
If you like goldfish, look no further, this is the aquarium screensaver for you. But this may not be right for you if you want a variety of fish, and the backgrounds aren't very exciting.
